Getting Started
This guide will walk you through adding Aquarium to your Discord server and setting up language immersion.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- Administrator permissions on your Discord server
- A Discord account linked to the Aquarium dashboard
Step 1: Add the Bot
- Visit the Aquarium Dashboard
- Click "Add to Discord" or "Get Started"
- Sign in with your Discord account
- Select the server you want to add Aquarium to
- Authorize the required permissions
Aquarium requires the following permissions:
- Manage Channels (to create language channels)
- Manage Webhooks (to send translated messages)
- Send Messages
- Read Message History
- Manage Messages (to delete unverified user messages)
Step 2: Access the Dashboard
After adding the bot:
- Go to the Dashboard
- Find your server in the list
- Click "Manage" to open server settings
Step 3: Set Up Immersion
In the server dashboard:

Navigate to the "Immersion" tab

Click "Set Up Immersion"

Choose how to create channels:
- Create new channels - Aquarium creates a category with all language channels
- Link existing channels - Connect your existing channels to languages

Select which languages to enable (you can change this later)

Click "Complete Setup"
Step 4: Verify Users
Users must verify their accounts before using immersion channels:
- When a user first posts in an immersion channel, they receive a verification link
- They click the link and sign in with Discord
- Once verified, they can post in any immersion channel
Share the verification link with your community so members can verify before they try to post!
